Test Results
How and when to obtain test results from the surgery
Getting your test results
Results of urine and blood tests usually take at least 7 working days to come back from the laboratory.
We will not contact you with the results unless the clinician has requested a follow-up appointment, or for the tests to be repeated.
Once a doctor has reviewed your test results, you can view them:
- in your NHS account (through the NHS website or NHS App)
- in your online services account
- phone on 01392 833230 in the afternoon and evening.
The receptionist will be able to tell you if any further action is required but is not qualified to discuss the result with you.
Questions about your results
Get in touch with the surgery if you want to talk to someone about your results.
Getting a urine test
All urine tests are to be requested by a GP. Our reception team cannot hand out sample pots without approval from the GP.
All samples are to be handed into the surgery before midday. The courier comes once a day at this time and samples brought in the afternoon do not go to the lab until the next day. Some samples have to be at the lab within a certain time frame. If not, this can result in an abnormal test result and requirement to repeat the test.
Hospital Laboratory Test
The laboratory does not do routine pregnancy testing. Fast, reliable tests can be purchased at the chemist.
If you were told that the sample is to go to the hospital laboratory, then there are several rules to follow.
- The sample must be mid stream
- Passed the same morning and brought in
- The sample must be in a sterile bottle obtained from reception
- Please label it with your name, date of birth and the days date. If you have a brown form, please enter the date and time the sample was collected in the top right-hand corner.
