  • Does more than one family member need to see the doctor? If so, please make a separate appointment for each person.
  • If you have several different problems to discuss, please make a longer appointment or separate appointments. Your doctor has only 10 minutes for each routine appointment.

Urgent appointments for today

On the day appointments are available by ringing each morning at 8:30am.

These are for more urgent matters that cannot wait until a routine appointment is available

Sickness Certificates (Fit Notes)

You must give your employer a doctor's 'fit note' (sometimes called a 'sick note') if you've been ill for more than 7 days in a row and have taken sick leave. This includes non-working days, such as weekends and bank holidays.

Home Visits

Please be aware that our GPs will always call to assess the home visit request first.

If you need a home visit, you can help us by calling reception before 11am.

Telephone: Exminster Surgery on 01392 833230 or Starcross Surgery on 01626 890368

In general, we ask that patients only request a home visit if they are genuinely housebound and too unwell to come to the surgery. If so, you will usually be visited by your doctor after morning surgery.

The computerised records and some pieces of medical equipment which are so helpful in modern general practice are only available at the surgery. In addition, your doctor can usually see several patients at the surgery in the time that it takes to make a single housecall.

Change or Cancel an Appointment

If you decide that your appointment is no longer needed, please give us as much notice as possible so we can offer your appointment to someone else.

To cancel your appointment:

  1. Telephone: 01392 833230
  2. Cancel using the GP online system
  3. Use your NHS account (through the NHS website or NHS App)

Chaperones

A chaperone is a person who is present during a consultation between a healthcare professional and a patient who acts as a witness for both people during a medical examination or procedure. This safeguards both the patient and the clinician.
